Postby Vi Robertson » Mon Aug 10, 2015 3:10 pm

I have looked but cannot find the info. we need so please accept our apologies for asking.

We now have our Residencia cards, both retired and wishing to register with a doctor / medical center can anyone advise correct procedure as we do not wish to go private.
Are there any English speaking Dr's who are not only private?

Any help will be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

As you are both retired (over pensionable age) then you need to obtain an S1 form from the Interantional Pension Centre at Newcastle. This can be done by phone and they will send the completed forms to you at your Spanish address.
Once you receive them, take them to Rojales town hall in the mornings. Get your padron up to date (has to be within 3 months) by showing your passport and residence cards. Then go downstairs and there is a lady (next to the lift) who will process the forms for you. She will give you a temporary healthcard which registers you with the nearest health centre to you and a named doctor. You will get a permanent card in about 2 months time with a social security number on it.
You will pay 10% of the cost of prescriptions with this card capped at a maximum of 8 euro a month.
The International Pensions Centre is 0191 218 7777. (or 0044 191 218 7777).

Sorry, I assumed Lo Crispin was in Quesada going by the thread title.
The S1 form from UK is valid. The lady who works at Rojales is a part of Torrevieja hospital and all cards are processed through Orihuela. Maybe just get the padron from Algorfa and then take the forms to your local medical centre.
