How to obtain healthcare in Quesada?

Hola,


Can anyone provide info on how to obtain healthcare in this part of Spain? The person concerned is under UK pension age, resident in Spain and unemployed.


Also, does anyone have a recommendation and costs for private health cover in this area?

Cervantes is correct (in the linked post ) in saying that you need to have private health insurance for a year before you become eligible to join the Valencia convene especial. There are many on the market for you to look in to. Private insurance can be expensive (we have had it for the past 13 years) although probably still cheaper than similar policies in the UK I think. If you have pre-existing conditions you might want to consider taking out a policy with somewhere like the Centro Clinico in Torrevieja. Not sure exactly of the fee but it is around 325 per couple and this gives you access to see the GP and many discounts if you need to see a specialist plus annual checks etc. Obviously, if you are considering the joining the Valencian scheme you will still need to have the private insurance policy for a year - plus your residencia. A lot to think about. Please don't forget to continue with your usual medical checks such as mammograms/ prostate etc as appropriate, which you can either again get through the clinic at a discount or for a donation via the AECC.
