Registering S1´s , has the process changed recently ?

Registering S1´s , has the process changed recently ?

Postby Paul1000 » Wed Feb 05, 2020 7:09 pm

Hi, I am looking for some up to date advise on how to register the S1`s please.

I took our (my wife and i´s) S1´s plus all other associated dcouments to the Lady under the stairs in Rojales town hall this morning to register as per numerous previous advice posts on the forum but all did not go to plan ...!.

The lady under the stairs was a man today and he explained that there was a first step before he could do anything, he said we first had to go to the INSS office in Torrevieja at 8am in the morning and get them to stamp the S1`s and then bring them back to him and he would process them.

My questions are...
1. Is this now the norm ?
2. Why do I need to be at the INSS office at 8am ?
3. Do I need to make an appointment with NISS first ?

Apologies if this is detailed elsewhere but my search of the topic today did not show up any recent relavent posts. I thought I had this process sussed but clearly not...!

Thanks, Pul.

My understanding has been if you go to Inss office in Torrievieja they can sort it all for you there and then ,(I read that in earlier forum posts) and the 8am start likely to be if they have a 'take a ticket and sit and wait' system, you need to get in early. Not sure why you'd then need to go back to Rojales Town Hall at all. The process of going through the Lady under the stairs was a convenient way to avoid having to go to Torrievieja as I think she works for INSS and basically sorts it out for you. That's what happened for me last year, she took all the forms etc and told me to come back in two weeks, whereupon she gave me the paper card told me to wait another week and then take paper card to the Urgencia health centre in Rojales where they then printed off the proper plastic one.

Unless someone else on here comes up to say they know the Lady doesn't do the process anymore I would be tempted to go back another day and try again, looking for when it's the Lady on duty.... Unless going to Torrievieja is not a bother to you and you are happy enough to go there.

About 5 months ago I also had the gentleman telling me to go to Tori as this would ensure my S1 form would be stamped before brexit and then go back to him to get everything processedI or could wait 2/3 weeks and hope my foams would be proceeds from there. I declined to go to Tori and yes 3/4 weeks later I got my SIP card. The lady under the stairs is very helpful so I would go back when she is there and I’m sure she will sort things out for you.

They seem to be changing the system on the whim of whoever is there.
I sent someone to the town hall about a year ago to see the lady and she did it all for them, same as she did it for us some ten years ago.
Around 8 months ago, someone else asked and I told them to go to the town hall. Nope, had to go to INSS Torrevieja (yes, 8 in the morning to get as near to the front of the queue as possible).
The someone told me they simply went to Rojales med centre with a new padron and they did it all for them.
Lo and behold, last December a new couple just arrived and went to the town hall where the lady again did it all for them.
Now it's round the merry-go-round time and back to INSS Torrevieja.
Ho, hum. Todo cambia pero es igual.

Hi,
My partner and I went to the INSS in Torrevieja last week to register his S1.
We got there at 11 a.m. went to the right where the machine is but the man on duty said if we didnt have an appointment to wait in line. When it was our turn (about 15min wait) we saw the lady at the first desk who gave us a ticket to wait for your number to be called. There was no one waiting so saw the very friendly man who did all the necessary work and were out before 11.30.
Took the paperwork to the local salud and partner was given a temporary SIP card to last 3 months but told to collect the new one in a month.
Hope this helps.

Thanks to everyone for their feedback...Here is my update:

Went to INSS office In Torrevieja this morning with all the necessary documents. Got there 08.15 and joined the queue in the courtyard. The office doors opened at 08.30 and the queue moved inside to wait turns to go to the first desk (#1) where it seems you are then redirected depending on your needs.

At my turn I went to desk 1 and explained that I wanted to register the S1`s, the lady, who didn´t speak much English looked at the S1`s, took my residencia card and typed in the details and then asked the man at the desk next to her to speak to me.

He explained that I needed an appointment and that the next appointments were now 2nd week of March...!

He made the appointment for me and gave me a printed copy of the appointment details and told me to come back then.

This is so much at odds with everything I´ve previously read about the process of registering S1`s that I am now more confused than ever but I guess we`ll just have to wait now for our appointment date at INSS.

Help Help I did exactly the same this morning and the lady at desk one turned me away in Torrevieja. I do speak a little Spanish but limited. She gave me a slip of paper with a telephone number and internet address web address. I tired the internet but it asks a security question. i.e. 5-3 so the answer I enter is 2 is states no it is not correct. I tried at least 20 time but the security question is not working. Tried calling but waited at least 20 minutes no answer. Not sure what to do now..
If anyone knows of an interpreter who can help me I would be most grateful for help. Thanks
John
