Will the local Health centre register my EHIC card?

Will the local Health centre register my EHIC card?

Postby michael fallon » Fri Oct 31, 2014 9:23 am

Hello, my name is Michael and I'm on holiday in Quesada. I was wondering if anyone out there knew the nearest health centre to me that would register my 'EHIC' card. Would that health centre in Urb Dona Pepa do it? Be most grateful!

Hello Michael,

:text-welcomewave:

Welcome to TalkQuesada. I have moved your question into its own topic so it can be seen better.

Do you have an up to date EHIC card? If so they don't need to be registered as they are used for emergencies for people staying or holidaying temporarily in any EU country. You can read more on this link:
UK European Health Insurance card - EHIC

For anyone who needs a new card, there is the official link to the free UK NHS official EHIC card on the link above or the application form is here:
https://www.ehic.org.uk/Internet/startApplication.do

Hope this helps,

Jan.

Hi if you need to go to the health centre when you show them your card they will give you a temporary SIP card so you can be seen and they last 6 months you would only need to register if you were staying for a long period and thought you may need to ring for an appointment in that time.

Hello frans158
From a translation of your Dutch, I can see you are asking for a map - If you click on the following links, you can see an address for the two local health centres - I hope this helps:

Van een vertaling van uw Nederlandse , kan ik zien dat u vragen om een kaart - Als u op de onderstaande links kunt u een adres te zien voor de twee lokale gezondheidscentra - Ik hoop dat dit helpt

Rojales Health Centre

Rojales II / Lo Marabú Health Centre

All the nearest Health Centres are here too:
Al de dichtstbijzijnde Health Centres zijn ook hier :

EHIC cards are for emergencies only. Not for aches and pains or obtaining a prescription. I would presume you present it in the same way as Residents who show their SIPP cards when you make an appointment. Any payments made would have to claimed back on your return to the UK.
It is therefore important to have a travel insurance policy that will cover you. This should have been taken out before you left home. A visit to the hospital may cost you quite a bit hence the reason for insurance.
