Home insurance company recommendations

Home insurance company recommendations

Postby garyizme » Wed Nov 06, 2019 7:01 pm

We have been with Linea Directa for 10 years and the renewal is due soon

Can I ask for peoples experience from the flooding claims what insurance company would they recommend or avoid.

Others we are looking at are Mapfre and Sabadell

Thanks in advance

I had problems at Easter with Linea Direct and the floods for the car but Liberty Seguros helped me so I changed to them and they were a lot cheaper would recommend them. Mapfre I use for the house and have been very pleased with them but they are more expensive. I also use Mapfre for holiday insurance and they are inexpensive for that and I have had to claim this year and no problem with them. Good luck,

Hi. Like most insurance companies they try every avenue not to pay out. Terrible time re house insurance with Liberty, (instance main pipes from house to septic tank collapsed underground due to storms of 2016 - floods again. They blamed it on ‘lack of maintenance’ !!! They expect everyone to dip up their drive annually and check pipework !!! they wouldn’t budge - cost us 3000e to repair.
But liberty ok for car insurance.
mafrey cane FOC with our recent car but did use them a few years ago and only drawback then was ‘not covered if car breaksdown abroad’ we were driving home. Luckily it was new so covered anywhere with warranty.
We are now with Generali (Spanish Insurance) Arches - again you have to read the small print - we lost 7,000e due to being robbed of our bags outside. Even if our belongings were photos and listed on contracts still no joy - you have to be attacked indoors to claim. Items in safe were not insured either - thought that’s a joke.
So my point of view is pointless getting expensive insurance, cover what you feel comfortable with.
Do look carefully re bank insurance as it can be very expensive and hard to get out of - so I’m told.
We will be looking at others in the new year.
Good luck

Don't touch Caxia bank if you value your sanity! We've had absolutely no help from them at all with the recent floods they didn't pass our details to the consortium and when we rang to find out what was happening they put the phone down on me!!

I use my lawyers in Benijofar, sgm Abogados. Esther takes care of my home insurance, car and scooter too. It's just easy and the prices are especially good if you combine.

We don’t really want to know how easy it is to pay them, we want to know what the response is like when you have a claim. Some of the flood victims have differing views on their companies.
