Multitrip Travel Insurance

Multitrip Travel Insurance

Been looking at various quotes and the best ones seem to limit you to say 31 or 45 days (at our age - 58 & 68 with conditions).

Then I remembered someone on here saying how they took their hire car back to the airport after 23 days and exchanged it for another one to get around paying much higher rental rates so........

Ideally we would like to do 2 x 75 day trips per annum (we drive over) - so it got me thinking would we able to drive over on a 45 day trip - then drive to Alicante - fly back to UK on cheap flights - spend a night in a travel lodge - then return - car still at airport - seems to be better than driving back and returning a couple of weeks later BUT would this “quick return” constitute a second trip?

I know it’s not exactly in the spirit of the agreement but we would not be breaking the total number of days allowed per annum - but just wondered if it was a “work around” solution?

Found last years policy and we upgraded for a small extra amount of money to entitle us to 100 days

We have annual travel insurance with LV and it allows up to 90 days per trip. I believe Saga do insurance for much longer . . .
Seems a bit extreme to fly home and back just for insurance purposes . . . it must cost a minimum of £200 all-in for the 2 of you so you would need to save at least that much on insurance to make it viable?

Thanks for the replies - I have used Staysure many times and always been pleased with them. They are covering for 50 days maximum trip up to age 70 but I didn’t know you could call them to quote to increase the duration. I will give that a go.

I am with LV for our car insurance as they cover 180 days (most are 90) so will try them now as they are a good solid company as well.

I probably have too much time on my hands as I have recently been told unexpectedly that I need a double bypass - quite quickly - not to strain myself, carrying shopping etc - so I am awaiting surgery and researching the implications of my changed medical status!

I was aware that a lot of insurance providers reduce cover to 31 days at age 75 so we were just looking forward to having a good run of long holidays before that comes around in 7 years!

Just tried LV - trip duration up to 90 days - £275 for both of us - with double bypass and high cholesterol for me at 67 (currently) and wife has high cholesterol and high blood pressure - fantastic - very happy.

Many thanks everyone :text-thankyouyellow:

That's good . . . I can confirm that they are very good at settling claims too as we had a bad year in 2015 and had to claim twice. Both times they paid out within days and with little or no fuss.

As others have said, you can do trips of up to 100 days with https://www.staysure.co.uk/annual-travel-insurance/
However, you have to pay an extra premium (£60?) to increase the trip duration from 50 days and you must not spend longer than 183 days in total over a 12 month period......Otherwise you would be classed as Spanish resident and the policy would most likely be void.
*****Edit - just seen that you're now sorted. I'll leave this for anyone else looking*****
