Hi...cannot offer any recommendations as to cheap solicitor...just some advice about remembering to put into the will a statement that "you want the will to be administered under the rules of your home country" or some words to that effect. The rules on wills have changed and we have been advised to check ours to that effect. Your solicitor...cheap or otherwise should advise you about this..Good luck.

Hi,
There are quite a few recommendations on the forum. If you put in the search box, top right, 'Wills' you will see lots of posts and topics that may help you.

The advice hobnob has given you above depends on whether you are Resident or Non-Resident in Spain but as hobnob says, any good solicitor will tell you about this.

We used Abaco and did the wills on-line with them - They gave us a price - We gave them all the details they needed and they wrote the Wills and sent us a translation in English which we checked and then only had to go to sign them (in Torrevieja) when we were in Spain and ready to have them registered.

Here's a link to look at : http://www.abacoadvisers.com/abaco-inhe ... nish-wills

Not sure how competitively priced they are but we are pleased with their services.

Time is running out for RESIDENTS who wish to add the new law, which in short means - "you want the will to be administered under the rules of your home country" THE LAST day for getting this signed off by the Notary is 17th August.

European Regulation 650/2012, in force since 2012, introduces significant changes to Succession that may require you to make a new Spanish will. These changes will come into force as from the 17th of August 2015. Anyone affected by it that passes away on or after the said date and who has not updated their Spanish will accordingly may cause devastating problems to their beneficiaries (normally family).

Be Quick!
Some of the Notarys are on holiday in August!

Hi Clivespana,

Can you please copy the post above into a new topic as well, as it may be missed on here and it's quite important?

Just for clarity on our part.

We are non-resident and have created a "Spanish Will" if in the future we wish to become Resident, can you advise what action if any we would need to take on amending our Will.

Does this company have a good website? It really is important as prospective clients do need to read about and be in easy online contact with the solicitor they choose. I wouldn't touch a solicitor without a good online presence, especially as many of us are not in Spain permanently

Just asking as you've only given a phone number???
