Can anyone recommend a spanish medical insurance company for early UK retirees who are residents in Spain but not yet eligible for the Spanish NHS and are not due to draw a UK state pension for another 6 years.
Recommendations please and also Companies to avoid would be very much appreciated.
Many thanks

Saw something in the press which makes me wonder if private insurance for that cohort will be necessary in the future. The new socialist government has overturned some of the strictures relating to healthcare saying anyone living in Spain legal or not will be entitled to medical care. This may have implications for early retirees with cover extended to them as was the case in the past. But I don't know whether this is the case or not. Doesn't affect me but would be nice for those people who had the rug pulled out from under them.

I posted about this a few weeks ago - we're almost 5 weeks into Sanchez's 6 week timescale and I've heard nothing more about it......
Free Spanish healthcare to be reinstated by new Government?
Postby Paulr » Sat Jun 16, 2018 11:13 am
An interesting extract my wife picked out from this week's "Eye on Spain":
https://www.eyeonspain.com/blogs/spainn ... weeks.aspx
Of course, Mr. Sánchez’s tenure could be short-lived as his Socialist party has only a quarter of the seats in Parliament, which could lead to new national elections. But if they are able to reinstate access to free Spanish healthcare for all, it will be interesting to see how this translates into Residencia applications. Will foreigners who aren't entitled to reciprocal healthcare via their country of origin still be required to prove they have private health care in place in Spain? If I had plans to apply for my Residencia this year, I'd be watching how this report develops.......

I suppose your medical cover is only as good as your claim! Try Asisa. They've been brilliant for years time and time again.

I recommend AXA and DKV, as they are the only insurance companies in Spain that offer Lifetime health insurance cover, quite important specially for advanced age people.
I'm an insurance agent for AXA, if you'd like to get further details, feel free to send me a message.
