This might take a bit of thinking about... recently you could make a will that was good for the UK and Spain.. so you could be in the UK and UK laws would apply even though the person died in Spain and was a Spanish resident.. but now with Brexit, and the withdrawal from the EU I am not sure what will happen..
Maybe others on here can offer more advice..?

We used Abaco and we did our wills online with them. They gave us advice by email and we filled the form in and when the Wills were ready, they sent them for us to check by email, we just had to go into the office to sign them the next time we were in Spain. It was easy and effortless but I'm sure any good solicitor would do the same, although not all of them have a good helpful website or are so good with online dealings but I expect many are if you choose carefully.
There's a price on here and further details. We asked all the questions we needed before committing to getting our wills through them and they were happy to answer with no obligation.
Here's a link that may help: http://www.abacoadvisers.com/abaco-inhe ... nish-wills
I don't know the Brexit implications in making a Will or if there are going to be any, but Brexit hasn't actually happened yet so none of us know.
Hope this helps.

Well, at one time you needed a Spanish will. It was administered under Spanish law..end of...
Then the EU brought out a rule something about anyone in Europe could make a will in any EU country and it could be administered in the deceased´s home county of origin if they wished.. and many people changed their Spanish will to take this into account..
I have no idea if such a will be be binding if the UK leaves the EU...
It would be a pity to make such a will and spend a couple of hundred euros on it only to find it had no authority after the UK leaves the Eu..and have to make another..
It is no good guessing about this and legal advice needs to be followed bearing in mind the uncertain times..

The U.K. Opted out of the Eu ruling which came into effect in August last year. Hence the need to make provision in a Spanish will that uk laws of inheritance will apply so as the Uk opted out I can't see Bexit making any difference. Spain, will obviously remain and will apply the Eu ruling unless a will specifically excludes such provision. However, expert advice should still be sought as the rules of inheritance in each Eu member state are pretty complex. Take France, for example!

As I understand it you need to make a Spanish will which simply points to your UK will and it is the terms of the U.K. Will which will apply. This advice I have now had from 2 solicitors. My solicitor included this cost in the fees when I bought my house here ( bout 80 € ) however 6 months on he has yet to do it despite many reminders so looks like I'll have to go elsewhere.
Also worth noting if you die in Spain without a UK will then Spanish law will apply which is unlikely to be in line with your wishes

With so much uncertainty regarding Brexit, I doubt anyone here, or even a solicitor, could tell you with any certainty what you'll need to do to cover your will in the future, but it is important to get a will written to cover your present circumstances.
You'll most likely need to make amendments at a later date once more is known about the details of Brexit, as we probably all will.
I had my wills prepared by SGM Abogados in Benijofar. Hassle free, well priced and a pleasure to deal with.
