It made for very interesting reading - especially since we do not vote on the administrator!! We have had the same one from the year dot - mainly because the ex-president is Spanish and "amazingly" the administrator also did a lot of his personal accounts etc!! I am not saying that it was "jobs for the boys"!!!;)

At our last AGM a motion to do away with the vice president was blocked as it would have meant extra money for the administrator if the president was away on holiday! We are very careful what happens to our community money!!

I thought it was interesting too Sandra. The main problem, I think, is getting the right support at the right time to make the necessary changes. Not everyone can manage to be at the AGM's when these important motions need to be voted on and that seems to be one of the reasons why some of these 'not so good' community Administrators' stay in position a lot longer than they should. It's easy to be complacent and let things carry on as they are but not so easy to be proactive without support. If it were, for instance, a block of flats in the UK, the problems are a bit easier to deal with swiftly but with multi-languages and non-residents & sometimes not enough permanent residents available, it's more difficult. :?

We obtained about 3 quotations from other would-be admins in the past year and put an item on the agenda, regarding a proposed change.

Suddenly we got a quotation from our then-current admin, cutting their price by several hundred Euros!!

At the AGM we decided to stay with 'The Devil We Know' and hope that the warning shot gives her an incentive to pull-up her socks a bit!
(She's not bad, but we felt rather slow in getting things done, and uncompetitively expensive)

[We were also able to cut a large slice off our maintenance fees (about 15%, IIRC), due to our prudent management(and some good luck, no doubt!).]
