Article From Brits in Spain

The Royal Decree setting out the Spanish Government’s contingency measures for a no-deal Brexit was approved by the Spanish Congress last night. Remember, if the UK leaves the EU without a deal, there will be a 21-month grace period to register, so don’t panic if you haven’t got your certificate and can’t get an appointment. You still have time. Check out the Spanish government’s website http://bit.ly/2HZFT3h for more detail, where the residency section has been updated with useful info on post-Brexit registration procedures: http://bit.ly/2CIHJl7

It looks increasingly likely that commonsense might prevail and no-deal will not happen but you never can be sure with a Govt of so many loony tunes.

Our views on whether we should remain in the EU, or, step into the unknown are deeply entrenched into each individual. It’s a lot like religion or, support of a football team, our belief’s rarely change.

The choice, stay or leave, is a simple binary one but, within the Leave camp there we’re so many variations voiced, Norway, Hard, Canada, Soft etc., whereas, Remain’s was just that, remain. It’s no wonder then, that a consensus, in Parliament, cannot be found as, outside Parliament, it’s just as confused.

And, it has to be remembered that Members of the House of Commons hold, in effect, a triple mandate. They represent all the people of their constituency, their party and the interests of the country. It is a tenet of representative democracy that MPs are not delegates for their constituents.

It’s a bloody difficult question they have to face, with long term consequences if they get it wrong. Sadly, it took the current administration over two years to bring it to the house and present it with the eleventh hour scramble, that it is now. Although, that may well have been May’s plan all along!

:text-givemebeer: Hi
I know this subject evokes lots of feelings in many different ways and I have followed the saga since the beggining.
The reason being we have a house in Spain but are permenant residents in the UK.
I have yet to see, and have just read all of the Q & A from previous post, where exactly will we stand post Brexit deal or no Deal? Answers on a postcard please!!!!
For the record I have said from day one it will not happen and I think I am closer to being proved right the closer to the cliff edge we get

Hi
Our residency circumstances are similar except we are tax residents in France. Sorry unable to send you a postcard and can only suggest that like me you keep taking the beer. Fingers crossed that you are right about this farce called brexit.

The beer helps and some of the alternatives are unthinkable.
