The old Airport Road is at the top of Quesada by Rent a Car When we bought our Villa in Quesada 14 years ago the Airport had closed and I was not aware they would be building hundreds of houses on the air strip which had been used for private planes in the past so for two years from 2004 it was hell with lorries muck and dust coming past our villa

During the time of the building there was lots of break ins and our villa was one of them. We return to Quesada in April and will check out the Duck pond

The gates used to be unlocked, so you could go in to feed the ducks. At that time, there were loads of fish which would compete for the bread.

I live close to the pond. A german lady has the gate key and comes every day to feed the ducks. The pumphouse is monitored daily by engineers and pumps water all night long in the summer months. I am told its for the golf course, but cant confirm.

Hi
It's at the end of the Ave de Aeropuerto road. See the map on this link. It's on the right hand side of the map:

Gee, I live right there, and didn't know there is a duck and goose pond! Will go check it out when I get home. I did know about the Airport, as my neighbours moved there while all the building was happening, so they told me a bit about the 'old days'.

And maybe they closed it off so that the geese and ducks don't get fed by people! Please do not feed them bread or anything dipped in oil! It is VERY bad for them and has no nutritional value. They do not need to be fed, as they can get their own food and should be encouraged to do so, rather than be fed unsuitable things.

The other reason why one should not throw bread into ponds is that it pollutes and contaminates the pond. The ducks don't eat all of it, some drops to the bottom and rots.

Yes your right chrissieb, bread is really bad for them. This isnt really a pond. Its a large water deposit or bolsa, man made to serve a purpose. Closed to the public. The fish are there to keep the water sweet and free from algee, larve, etc. It is not a fishing lake or tourist attraction. Of course families love to bring children here to see nature, and feed the ducks, but please, No Bread.

I've also found this topic very interesting. We've holidayed in Quesada each year for the last five years and a friend who lives there mentioned that there used to be an airport in the town where the car hire building is. We were just there last week and, being into aviation, I took a drive around the area and came to the conclusion that even allowing for the later developments there wasn't enough flat ground for flying from. How wrong can you be!
