Spain provides best value - January 2012

Hi, I was reading this in the paper & thought I would share it, as it is some positive news about Spain for a change. Jan.

Quote : "The Post Office’s annual Holiday Money Report, which compares the cost of eight essential purchases, including a restaurant meal, toiletries and drinks, in 40 different destinations, highlights the country as the most cost-effective short-haul option for Britons.
The average total cost of the eight items was less than £38 in Spain, compared with more than £60 in Turkey, nearly £70 in Egypt, and more than £110 in Barbados.
Of the 40 destinations to feature in the survey, only Sri Lanka – where the eight items cost around £28 on average – provides better value for British travellers."
Sarah Munro, head of travel money at the Post Office, said: “Resort prices in Spain are now 40 per cent lower than they were five years ago, when we conducted our first price survey. The cheaper cost of travel and the rising value of the pound [sterling rose this week to an 18-month high against the euro] will make it a compelling choice for bargain hunters.”
