For the last 3 weeks, every evening the speed reduces significantly (right now it is 4.89Mbps) and I am unable to run IPTV properly. As yet I have no answer from skynetlink as to what the problem is, or how they intend to fix it! I think the service in Benimar is better as there is fibre optic coverage there, but in Quesada not so good (for me anyway!). Anyone else with a similar problem.
Is you IPTV system connected to the router with an Ethernet cable or are you using wifi to connect? The only reason that I ask is that I find connecting by wifi to be very slow and can only assume there is a lot of interference and contention. I am with Skynetlink and have subscribed to 10mb. If I use a cable to connect my internet tv or my laptop, I get at least 7.5mb even at night.

Steve
I worked for BT before retiring and was involved with BT Internet .. .
There are so many things that can effect your Broadband speed, not necessarily down to Skynetlink in your case. At the end of the day, your system is only as fast as the slowest link in the chain, from your own setup, through the quality of supply from your provider to the destination of the service you are connecting to (your connection can be running at 50Mb, but the destination website / server you want can be running at 2Mb (or less) and that is what you will get.
As you have quoted your current lower speed, I presume you have run a Broadband speedchecker, so that would indicate its not a problem with the IPTV itself and that the problem is either your end or with Skynetlink itself.
Things you can do yourself to minimise slower speeds are a) definitely use a cable rather than Wifi for any data intensive uses such as streaming (IPTV) it is so much faster and more reliable. b) if using wifi, keep your wifi box/router and what is using wifi such as your IPTV box away from close location to any electrical sources such as fluorescent lights Including energy saving bulbs - they radiate interference . . .(often a reason why things slow down at night as lights are switched on) plus things like wireless door bells. c) At least once a Month power off your Wifi /Router for 5 mins which clears out any internal errors/junk that have accumulated - these boxes are not perfectly designed and do benefit from a reboot (similar to a Satellite receiver/ Sky box). Powering off your router also normally means that you pick up a different IP address from your provider which can help for reasons too lengthy do describe here.
Another thing to check is that, because you say it has suddenly changed 3 weeks ago, have you or a near neighbour bought or installed a new electrical device at that time? - lighting, aircon etc - something used at night rather than day?
Another reason, which would be down to your provider, is that their internal capacity to connect to the internet itself is insufficient to meet demand at peak times so it naturally slows down or that they are actively throttling down bandwidth to cope.
Hope above helps

I notice Skynetlink now calls itself Telfy . . . .
I clicked the Forum link to Skynetlink and thought the connection had been hijacked as I ended up on a site called Telfy.com, but an occasional graphic eventually came up saying they had changed their name . . .

They do operate a fairly lengthy lead time, or they did, in February this year when I was here for only four weeks. I ended up calling them from the UK on 0034 966 19 90 04 to book an installation date a couple of days after my return in May.

They just installed ours yesterday. I initially went into the shop in Rojales on December 1st. We didn't move up here until Sunday the 11th, so considering there was a fiesta" week not bad. We did go into the shop on Monday to ask if they had an installation date but no however she emailed the chap doing the installation phone me that night to say they would come Wednesday morning at 8.30, which they did!
