I too would be interested in hearing if anybody is using infared heating.

I got talking to a Swedish couple a few years ago who said they used infared ceiling panels at their home in Sweden and had the same system put in here at their holiday home.
They said, at the time, that it was one of the most affordable ways to heat your property as it heats the person, not the dead space around them and the health benefits were amazing for people with joint and muscular or arthritic problems.
They said there was options for wall panels as well which could look like artwork on the walls. It wasn't a cheap option initially but apparently paid for itself pretty quickly.

So if anybody is using this system, could you please post your experience of it

Typically Spanish homes were not built with thermal efficiency to the fore so depending on exactly what you've got the order of play could well be insulate first, heat second!

2 couples from our group of friends have had infared heating fitted. 1 couple loves it, good cheap form of heating. The other not so much. The same company fitted them. the only difference I can see is couple number 2 have quite high ceilings.

Typically Spanish homes have walls about three feet thick. No problems with insulation there. It seems only recently built homes have paper thin walls.
Wood burners seem to give out more heat but then you have the problems of storing the wood unless you have a large area to store it of course, it is also a bit messy to clean out and they do give out a lot of dust.

If you have asthma or emphysema it is advised not to use woodburners

"The Guardian recently reported that wood burners triple the level of harmful particulates inside the home as well as creating dangerous levels of pollution in the surrounding neighbourhood...Now experts at Asthma UK and British Lung Foundation are asking people with wood burners only to use them if they have no alternative source of heat"

Infra red heating is brilliant but you have to have them situated in the correct places

We have, whole house, oil fired central heating. Fitted about four years ago by Premier Heating for €4900, we had seven radiators installed along with the boiler and 700 litre tank. Our oil consumption averages at, about, €10 week and, of course, we have no standing charge.

Some may consider that expensive but, for us, the comfort of a warm house, is a luxury that is priceless.

Mar cliff I agree with. Inverter air-con, with Iberdrola’s fixed rate plan, which you upgrade each year. Having been here 21 years. No Brainer!!
