Some thoughts !!!!
Do you have a specialism? What is your particular niche?
e.g. 'Old-timers'? German vehicles? Mercedes? British cars? Electric vehicles? High-end cars?
What is the going rate for a mobile mechanic? What is the competitive situation? Have you spoken to any to see what's what?
Do you speak any foreign languages? Spanish?
Are you targeting English speakers?
Have you plans for a web-site?
Social media skills?
Where are you going to source your parts?
Have you done your sums? How many call outs per day to break even?
Would you be better equipped to take on an existing garage?
What do you need in terms of stores and own vehicle?
Inventory costs?
Security aspects? Insurance?
Spanish bureaucracy?
You mention sons, what will they be doing? Staff costs?

Good Luck with what you decide to do , firstly a mistake that a lot of Brits make is they think they can earn the same as they do in the UK for example we use a Citreon main dealer and his hourly rates are 32euros nothing like the excessive amounts that some UK garages charge. There are many Brits Who get off the plane to do what ever trades they fancy sadly most of them are Jack of all trades and master of none, I not saying for one minute you fall into that bracket , but these are challenges you would face. The cost of living is a lot cheaper here so you don't need to earn as much. As I said at the begining I do wish you Luck with ever you decision you make

There are many British people with cars over here who are at the mercy of a Spanish mechanic who can spot a tourist car owner a mile off. So there are many nervous car owners when they know they have to approach one to get the car fixed.
So, it doesn’t matter how many mechanics there are over here, you are only as popular as the work you do and the level of service you give for the price you charge. It may take many months to get the word around, so you’d need a decent stash to live off while you get going. So if you think you can compete with that, you will be ok. Good luck.

I think that has been drastically slashed and it's about €60 per month now.

Thank you all for the replies and the information and I believe I have the technical side and my sums right but thank you anyway it’s always good to get other peoples ideas as I’m not perfect and could have missed things.
My two sons will be the mechanics both mobile and we will be moving to a place where we can fix cars too in house if need be. I will be remote working and earning too and I have allowed enough money to live on for three years if we did absolutely nothing as we learnt from the pandemic and the lock ups you never know what can happen. We also have the option to repair and sell cars too, so lots of options for them I believe. Word by the sounds of it will get out as they are good honest and reliable lads, and we will have a web site and various social media channels
.we are currently known here in the U.K. as PKB Motor Company and may even bring the name and logo with us lol
Once again thank you all for being so nice and taking time to help out, it’s all really appreciated
Have an amazing week folks and thank you
Jack

Only as a start up discount which gradually increases. 60 for the first 12 months, 144.50 for the next 6 months, 202 the next 6 months then 288 standard rate after that.

We live in Horsham at the minute and the garage is in Beckenham we will be based in Torrevieja when we move but I think with two vans and a base we can cover a lot of ground.
