Hello folks I am looking for advice please.

Hello folks I am looking for advice please.

Postby Jambler » Fri Feb 24, 2023 11:47 am

Good day to you all, I hope everyone is fine and well?

I’m looking for advice I want to move to Spain with my two sons and their families and set up a mobile mechanics business, we have a garage here in the U.K. and we run an honest and reliable company, we don’t rip people off and believe in the old values of honest hard work and we are good at what we do.
I’m trying to do some research on what the market is like there for mobile mechanics and if anyone has any experiences, etc
To be honest any advice information etc will be warmly welcomed.

Thank you in advance for any return comments it really is appreciated.

Have a great weekend all

Marcliff
Thank you for the engagement firstly.

Yes we are moving from the U.K. I’m originally from Yorkshire but we live in the south near Gatwick.

You would need to apply for an entrepreneur visa to set up your own business or a self employed visa to work for yourself.

You need a business plan in both cases to accompany your visa application showing your intended earnings which must meet the amount as listed with is around 28,000 for you and 8,000 for each of your dependants per year. You would also need to take out private healthcare insurance for all for the first year. As self employed you would be paying social security payments (about 280 euro a month and after the first year would received healthcare for you and your dependants).
Those visas last one year and you can update it then by showing you still meet the earnings and healthcare requirements, then after 3 years the same thing and then permanent residency after 5 years when the requirements no longer exist.

Alternatively you could apply for a golden visa if you are purchasing property over 500,000 euro and can prove an annual income and private healthcare.

There are quite a few mobile mechanics in this area but, as said, seem to be working without the correct paperwork although there are some who do so.

Best of luck whatever you do.

Thank you so kindly for all the info, I have all the moving pat of things sorted and visas etc, we would be Sole trader partnerships rather than limited company I feel for the first year to make things easier, its the market side of things I was lookig for and seem to be getting feed back that there is a market there in respect of the work, especialy if you can build up the trust and word of mout is a great way to do that, we know it taes a few years to get fully established so have the funds to get us through that stage.
We are not lookng to make millions, just an honest living thats all.

Thank you again for the details it really is appreciated

Hi Jambler,

Firstly good luck with the move out here.

We have an office in Worthing (I am guessing not far from you if you live near Gatwick) and also an office in Quesada so would be well placed to give you any legal/financial business advice that you may need on a professional basis and I can also on a personal basis put you in touch with contacts for advertising in papers, magazines, radio etc and also printing for paperwork, leaflets etc - it will help you when you get out to ''hit the ground running''.

PM me if you would like a chat at any time.

Kind regards

Paul

Hi and good luck with your move. If I were you I wouldn't be put off by competition. I think there is space in the market for more mechanics... When my car broke down late last year and I needed a mobile mechanic I was told by those I called that it'd be three to four weeks before they'd even be able to have a look.

The biggest problem with tradespeople that I have found in Spain is that those that are honest and trustworthy are kept so busy that people needing work done have to wait weeks for them to become available.
