We live Algorfa ...yes there is crime but in my opinion way less than UK ....we have lived here for 2 and a half years and love it ....cost of living is so much cheaper ......if you own your own place at 1200 euros a month you will live like kings n queens .....but depends if you want to dine out night and day 7 days a week

We have been here for 5 months now. We probably spend about 1000 per month on food and bills and eating out maybe once or twice a week. Saving some money for unexpected bills etc would be a good idea. We’ve no regrets about moving here at all ( the weather is a big draw) hope you enjoy it as much as we do. :text-welcomewave:

On your budget I think you could live quite well. I’d suggest €300 month for food (shop carefully)

I would worry about crime too much. Yes it happens but there’s not a country where it doesn’t.

What you have to bear in mind is that most of us are retired. We don’t bring home stories about work, the kids didn’t pop in today so, there’s very little to talk about if you’ve a small social circle. So little that, when something does happen it gets elevated to, STOP THE PRESS, even if it’s a dog pooing on the pavement!

You can see the thirst for anything to discuss in these forums, “What’s being built there?”, “We don’t need another one of those”, “I need to see the Council’s plans”, “There was someone suspicious, they looked Romanian”. The list goes on but, you get my drift?

As long as you keep your place secure, keep alert when walking about and be forceful and yes, bloody rude if need be, to anyone suspicious, you’ll be just fine
