Hi shaz I have no experience to advise except I have friends who moved to quesada ten years ago.
They have said that it's most important to be able to speak Spanish.
only one if them has a job in fact two part time jobs. My friend speaks fluent spanish and even she has found it hard. However they are very happy and would not come back to uk.
We ourselves are just going though a house purchase to be used for holidays and God willing when we retire to use for longer periods.
I wish you the very best and dont blame you one bit for wanting to do this
Hope everything works out for you on home, job, and school.
Best wishes and a very warm welcome to the forum.
Good luck for 2014

Hi Sharon
I have had my holiday home on Quesada for ten years now and more recently am enjoying extended stays. In my experience ( observation and chatting to locals) it seems to be mainly bar/ restaurant and shop work that is available in the area although not always easy to come by.

You don't say what you or your partners area of expertise is, so its hard to give you a more definitive answer?

There is always the opportunity of self employment but again I don't know where your experience lies?

If you could let us know what you're hoping for, maybe we could assist you further

kind regards

Dee

Hi Sharon i have been travelling to my holiday home in Quesada for 7 years. My daughter is 12 our neighbours lived here but I cannot afford to live in Spain as I have a professional job and can't speak spanish however there is a school in Rojales near rhe cave houses mums and dads drop kids off at the country club to get the school bus. Im not sure what age the move up but in state school children are taught in spanish so could get left behind if not fluent. Good luck with the move x

We own a villa in Quesada and planned to move there this month but we have had to delay it until March 2014 as we have decided to wait for a transfer with my husbands work. We have quite a few english and spanish friends in the area as we have been holidaying there for many years and they have all advised us that we need to ensure we have some work set up as unemployment is very high there and some of the local work is very low paid. We are planning to set up our company long term once we are there permanently and i will be looking fro a part time job until then but for now we think it will be safer to have the security of my husbands salary coming in. On a more positive note we have heard the schools are very good and of course Quesada and the whole area is amazing with a fabulous climate and thankfully most things are still cheaper in Spain. We cant wait to get there full time so lucky you and i hope it all works out for you.
