Hello All,
We are looking at retiring to Spain and CQ is area on our list #. We have visited it before but only passing through. Could any tell me what the best are in CQ to buy is. I dont want a place that has rentals either side so a quiet area. I have transport so getting around isnt a problem. Looking to purchase a villa 3 or 4 bedroom not sure if they do underbuilds in CQ but thats not an issue for us.
Any advice will be greatfully recieved.
Thanks in advance
Ian

Not quite sure how you’d determine if you have rental properties either side of you, without getting to know the community, before you move in. Quesada itself doesn’t attract that many tourists, it’s mainly friends and family visiting, holiday home owners as well as residents.
Are you looking to buy on a community or not? Quesada itself covers a huge area, so you need to spend a day or two just driving round the area. Do you want to be within walking distance of a few bars and restaurants or do you want the be within walking distance of the Main Street. Will you have a car, because public transport is virtually non existent in Quesada. Do hills bother you, as there’s a lot of hilly areas about.

Thank you for your reply.
True not sure how to determine if rentals would be either side etc. Preferably Id like to be within 15-20 min walk to local ammenities etc. I do have a car so getting about is not an issue. I have visited the are before and I could see there was plenty of shops etc. We are keeping an open mind and looking at different areas. I just thought that there were certain areas at CQ that had mainly full time residents and other areas were for rentals., I deally we are looking for a cibeles style villa. Thanks in advance for any advice.
Kind regards
Ian

Hi Ian, exciting times ahead for you. We have had a holiday home in CQ for 10 years and are still enjoying our visits. Our first home was on a community. it was a Lola town house then 5 years ago we moved off the community, but only over the road to a detached villa with private pool, mainly because grandkids came along and the town house was too small.
We stayed in the same area because we liked it and we had made good friends on the community. We looked at lots of properties 10 years ago in different areas of CQ but settled on La Fiesta 11 because it was a pleasant area with a good mix of different size properties from 100k€-1m€. A 10min walk gets you to supermarkets bars & restaurants and 20min walk will get you to the Main Street in CQ. If you like golf you may want to be near the golf course if so there are lots of properties around that area but it is not really practical to walk into & back to the Main Street - it is very hilly.
A word of caution if you buy on a community you will have community fees to pay that vary from community to community and they will have a set of rules that you will have to abide by. Make sure you get a copy before you buy. They can cover things like times you can use the pool, times you can have outside noise, alterations to your property and much more. You will also be liable to become President if no one volunteers and they put all names in a hat. Good luck with your search. If I can help further contact me. Cheers Alan.

Hi Ian we are from Scotland ourselves & in June celebrate living in the Quesada area for 10 years we love it here but like any area there can be good parts & bad parts, So what we recomend is yes pick Quesada but do a long term rental first as its cheaper that way than short term as you will pay the same for a month long term as you would for a week short term, long term is at least 3 months upwards & theres plenty of places that do rentals just do a google search but if not theres Hope properties that are good & been here for years & know the area well & will look after you, they have all types of properties & will give you an honest opinion on whats around. If you decide to do it that way its the best & safest & leaves you plenty capital to prove to the authorities that your genuine people as nowadays since brexit you have to be self supporting & insured for health once living out here, So if you have a large amount of cash available to buy then that covers it. You will need a car as its quite hilly & its a large area. What you have to watch for is someone trying to recoup there cash as they bought at a high price time & prices have lowered since then. If coming over to view let me know & if i can help show you around the area Just PM me. Cheers Doug.

Depends what you are looking for and where in Quesada. Do you want detached, pool, land. No doubt you will find something within your price range but you may have to compromise. Also money may have to be seen on it.You will need to deposit around 27€K in the bank and show income or pension. I believe you will have to apply for residency, nie through your local embassy. You will need to provide a Spanish tax certificate to avoid double taxation. That will mean being resident for a year and paying tax twice. You will get it back eventually. Since Brexit it has become more difficult to apply for residency. You will also have to swap your driving licence. I suggest when you come over you contact a reputable company to deal with it for you. One such company is Benijest Accountants in Benijofet. They speak English.
Lastly please don't listen to knowable in the bars. Good luck. Tony
