Planning a move but quesada or villamartin?

Planning a move but quesada or villamartin?

Postby Julie8710 » Sun Apr 05, 2015 3:58 pm

Hi
I have 2 kids aged 4 and 5 and we have just returned from a viewing trip in spain. We loved both villamartin and quesada and are now torn between them. My husband will be off shore and I am self employed so it comes down to what is best for us a family and our dog. I want a community feel in the place I live and for there to be lots of children and families around. Does anyone have any advice for me? Many thanks Julie

Only IMHO but I have lived just on the town adjoining Villamartin (El Galan) and now in Quesada. It will, of course, be purely up to you what you prefer in the end but we found Villamartin full of empty apartments most of the year. The golfer were the only ones keeping it going until the Summer when it got extremely busy. Villamartin Plaza gets horrendous in the Summer months and, of course, extremely noisy.
Now, we moved to Quesada because it is a more all year round town. You aren't just stuck to one commercial centre (yes, I know there are some around Villamartin but a bit grubby (again IMHO)) or having to drive to get to others. There are so many more places to choose from in Quesada and it does seem much livelier out of season.
Both places have good access to schools for your children so that shouldn't be a problem.
The only drawback to Quesada compared to Villamartin is the lack of public transport. We have a pretty dire system here although it is improving. Villamartin has the "round robin" beach bus which gets you to places where you can catch another bus to get virtually anywhere and run every hour (not sure if that's all year round), one clockwise and the other anti-clockwise but as Villarmartin is virtually in the middle it won't matter which way you go.
You would need a car in Quesada to get anywhere.
Both places are heavily expat orientated so meeting people is not problem.
Best of luck whatever you do. I think the bowling alley, mini golf, water park, bowls club, country club and extraordinary places to eat and socialise all year round swings it for Quesada (IMHO).

Thank you for that.
we both drive so that isnt an issue for us and i hadn't really taken into account that villamartin would pretty much close down during the winter so thaat really is food for thought.
would anyone have a link to the local school page at all?
we managed to find the one up at los dolce for villamartin (which was a prefab building in dire straights ) but could not fine any information on the quesada school unfortunately.

Hi,
There doesn't appear to be a website for the school but there is a Town Hall website:
http://www.rojales.es/

Unfortunately, it is a particularly non-user friendly site and is not always kept up to date. Anyone would think that a town hall website for such a small town would have general details such as school location and contact details but I can't find it. However, as it isn't an easy navigable website I could have missed it but I have found a poster(see below) and although it is for last years admission it could help.

You could contact the town hall by email (if necessary using Google translate to send in Spanish and translate any answers) I sometimes send emails to town halls' for information and send them in Spanish and English.

There is a Facebook page as well, where you could try to contact them with questions: https://www.facebook.com/AytoRojales

22 APRIL TO 23 MAY. DEADLINE FOR MUNICIPAL SCHOOL CHILDREN. COURSE 2014/2015.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

I haven't mentioned a photography group but the lady on this post link below has posted about a group and should be able to tell you more:
