About 1 metre tall this is a beautiful ornament consisting of a ships wheel mounted to a brass stand with a sexton affixed to the back of it. It's a very striking focal point for anyone with an interest in marine.

Collection from La Marquesa area.

Just a small correction for you, the item fitted to the front of the Binnacle is a steering compass not a sextant which is a device for measuring the angle of stars, etc. The two large metal balls are for correcting the magnetic influence of a steel hull.
