Anyhoo......The original question was about a jobcentre (or equivalent) in the area.
There is one in La Marina which takes your details and employers contact you if they have any vacancies. Most jobs are advertised by word of mouth or in the local press (so you'd need to be able to speak Spanish).
There are pros and cons to the way this thread has gone. Yes, unemployment is high here and jobs are few and far between. The Costa del Sol has more jobs available but there are some around here. However, it is very doubtful if any are more than seasonal and you would have to change your view and career outlook. The major cities would be a better place if you are looking for a professional position.
Still, that wasn't the original question. A quick look around and there are such things as jobcentres. Torrevieja opened a special one for the disabled "which complements the existing jobcentre" and San Javier has one as well so they must be around.
I would think that being fluent in Spanish would be a pre-requisite for using them, though.
(The one in La Marina is particularly for English speakers).

Just to be clear: the problem wasn't the opinion but the way it was worded. We want our members, especially new ones, to be able to ask questions and receive a helpful friendly response.
