...And please ensure that any property you rent short-term has a valid holiday licence. This should be displayed on any communications or websites.

Yes the license is for your safety and comfort, to make sure a property is fit for the purpose of holiday rental so it's best to check that the property is licensed before booking.

Despite of different interpretations of the law, only those owners with MORE THAN ONE property for rent have the obligation to register in the Valencian Holiday Rental Registry. So:
– If you only rent “one property”, registration is “voluntary”, so, then there is no obligation to register in the HRVR. But, if you decided not to register then you have the obligation to inform the tenants that the property is not registered, so, not covered by the legal requirements and standards of quality regulated in the law.

You may well be right, Gmaster5...but even if it's voluntary, there's no reason NOT to register.
Surely better for the potential holidaymakers to have that peace of mind?

Wise words najizan123, it is better to err on the side of caution.
There have been several threads on this subject and there are endless contradictory takes on the law even from law firms.
It is free to apply but note it does take up to a year to get the licence approved. However, according to GA Insurance on the last thread, as long as you meet the specification and have proof of application, you are ok to rent in the meantime. He had this directly from the Officina del Turismo.

I wasn't suggesting that anyone NOT register nazijan123 and ultimately it is down to the holiday maker whether they book or not knowing the property is not registered as there is a legal obligation to let them know.
Of course it is always best to err on the side of caution and knowing the legal requirement of the country you rent your property in should be top of any responsible renters list in any case - it is up to the individuals involved to make an informed decision based upon these facts
