Again, they got into the house via the balcony, grill, patio doors. They smashed the safe open on the landing floor. Thankfully nothing was taken -they were after cash and were not interested in credit cards, passports etc.
With all the noise they must have made what was your

This seems to be a fairly new spate of serious break-ins in especially in the Doña Pepa area.
I have been a member of Neighbourhood Watch for over 10 years and have seen the burglaries .... mostly 'opportunist ones, when the residents had been careless ... drop dramatically, until these, which seem to be planned and 'professional'.
It is difficult to know how the victims have been chosen, but the few we have had in our little 'urb' have all as far as I recall, been to houses which on the outside roads, where, presumably a getaway vehicle would be more accessible.
If people are prepared to lever-off grilles and steal heavy safes, regardless of noises and, in most cases, dogs, it is nearly impossible to stop them.
One has to wonder whether they take the trouble to recce'' the houses in the urb, looking for any signs of a wealthy target.
I have had a German Shepherd (fairly visible!) for 13 years but do not have many easily carried and converted valuables in the house, but how do they know that ??
It is very important that all residents should be vigilant and politely challenge anyone who appears suspicious, and not not afraid (or too apathetic) to call the police.

I agree with what you have just said. We all work bloody hard for what we have, why should these people be getting away with it. It has made be very nervous and suspicious of everyone and everything. The police need to step up and catch these people. On the night it happened, the community down the road saw them hiding one was limping as when he jumped down from the balcony he hurt his leg. Shame it wasn’t his neck!!!
They are spoiling a nice place, I feel sorry for all the older residents how most they feel????We are middle aged and still feel vulnerable. Feel saver in Brixton and Peckham then I do here. This needs to be sorted ASAP!! Before someone gets hurt.

Over the years it's always been the new developments that get regularly targeted by burglars, of course other places as well but seemingly not as much as the new developments.
If the police made regular patrols in these new areas it could help get the message across. It's well known that new builds get 'picked on' because new owners are less in the know with security and are more likely to make obvious mistakes in their excitement, like leaving doors unlocked when they are upstairs etc. The building companies don't help by not always building in the grills on all windows and doors in the beginning . Look at the new builds and see those with grills and those without. Which ones could be targeted?
Its obvious that the builders expect these important security features as an extra payment when they should be factored into the build. Also how many Brits have you heard say we don't have grills in the UK so why here?
In the UK we have double /treble glazed windows with decent locks and usually good secure front doors and we dont have so much hot weather where we would be tempted to leave windows and external doors wide open and worse still front doors!
Many properties in Spain do not even have decent secure front doors and the new owners are not always aware or informed of the need for grills in Spain until it's too late and some end up doing these things in retrospect after a burglary.
I remember years ago arranging to move into our newly built holiday home and realising how inadequate the type of door locks were and that there were no grills on the doors and some of the windows. Some people may not have thought about this in the excitement of moving into their new property -I have always been a worrier but in this instance I was glad I was. We had arranged in advance for the grills to be fitted the day after moving in and we fitted new stronger locks on the doors too (everyone should fit new door locks on all new or resale properties when you think how many people may have had your keys.)
I laugh about it now but the first night before all the better security was fitted we put the heavy dining room table piled with chairs against the front door. My thoughts were we would hear the noise of anyone pushing our door in when the chairs crashed off the table and sadly we did hear about a few break-ins in our first few weeks !
The targeting of new developments does ease off when they go elsewhere to the next new builds but it's a shame that we know they are all targeted in the early days and the less secure the property looks compared to its neighbour the more likely the property will be targeted. . Surely the police could have a patrol car doing the rounds in these early days.
It's good that we have forums like this to get the message across but there are no doubt still going to be those who are unaware.

By the way we must remember when saying we feel safer in the high density parts of the UK, that the things we hear about in Quesada and surroundings are condensed and passed on the grape vine (small town like) and one or two break-ins now and again, as awful as they are to those it happens to, can be made to make it feel we are all unsafe. I'm still careful (as I would be in UK) but feel safer here than in London and statistically I'm absolutely sure we are.

We must not forget that the reported break ins or thefts on here are 99% from the British community I would be very interested to see the figures from Quesada as a whole. I have been told yhat if u do not file a police report at Almoradi your crime will not be reported in the official figures which is also a concern,
Personally the only thing that will detter these people is a good alarm system linked to the police and I won’t mention companies..,,,,
