Burglary Dona Pepe
Burglary Dona Pepe
by Butch » Fri Sep 14, 2018 1:02 am
Tonight about 10.30 our house was broken in to. Shutters, grills, locks everything on. They climbed the balcony and jemmied open the shutter, grill and patio door. Must have been a ninja as our neighbours heard and saw them jumping down from the balcony. They threw safe down which weighs at least 20 kilos which was bolted to the floor. And ran off down the road with it. All our neighbours were vigilant and had already called the police. As we were waking back I said I can hear our alarm going, and 3 police cars flew past.
Thank you to our neighbours, the little bastards dropped the safe down the road and the police have recovered it. All our belongings still in there. Let’s all be vigilant and look out for each other. We can’t all get along with everyone, but we are in it together to live in a safe environment.

Good result in the end but no less traumatic for you .. You did everything possible to secure your property, so what else do you have to do to keep the scumbags out.
We have triple glazed multi-locking windows and doors. Hopefully that should keep anyone out .... but !

The only thing to do is get a German Shepherd. This is what we’ve done. She is a rescue dog and will be part of our family and will hopefully deter burglars.

When we were broken into we had 4 dogs, the police told us if any of the dogs had bitten the robbers we would be liable BUT, if i used a baseball bat on the robbers that would be ok.

do live in an apartment or detached property,do you think they had been watching your movements ?can understand them thinking a detached as easy , but to scale a balcony and break in especialy with grills shutters and alarm on, there must have been easier pickings around, goes to show the bast**** are everywere ,Glad you recovered the safe!

Yes please use this post wherever you need to. Our friends were done on Tuesday night whilst they were at ours having a bbq.
A neighbour gave a brief description and the police gave chase but they were too quick.
Unfortunately we can’t get a dog as this is a holiday home, our little dream in Spain that some scumbag is trying to destroy.
We live in a 3 bed Lola mid terrace, they got in the front which can be seen by the road, apartments across the road and houses straight opposite. They scaled 3 balconies to get in. Like I said every precaution taken can’t believe how brazen they were.
All be aware, stay safe, and anything suspicious report. Police reckon they have spotters out, just waiting for you to go out. A neighbour challenged them and he pulled some kind of weapon. All be on your guard don’t leave anything to chance. My husband recovered the crow bar, and police the safe.

So sorry to hear this. We were burgled in Doña Pepa a couple of months ago. The “look out” theory seems to be a good one. They did so much damage pulling out the grills that I wonder if there was a lookout somewhere in case someone heard them.
