Car thief

Car thief

Postby Sherlock9103 » Tue Mar 26, 2019 10:42 am

Last night at about 6 PM I was back and forth to my car which was parked on Calle Sorolla. I found a man sat in my driver's seat. I shouted at him and he ran off. After checking my car I grabbed my car keys and managed to catch up with him to try and get a photo of him.

Unfortunately I was scuppered by chains across some of the Calles. I only got a back view of him.

He was about 40 around 5,10, clean shaven, medium build, tanned complexion, clean clothes, with some English but not his native tongue, I cannot guess at his ethnic origin.

Having loss him in scrub land off Aeropueto Road I returned home and found he has taken a iPod Nano. I hope.he enjoys my Infinate Monkey Cage podcasts..

I did notice a Spanish plated car near my home with a female driver. I don't recognise the car or the driver and the man did try to double back to my home. I have added the back shot of him and the car. Please lock your car even if you are coming back moments later.

I don't know the rules here for detaining him whilst waiting for the police

You should never leave your car unattended and unlocked. We were sitting in the car with the boot open at the Beach when a car slowed down behind us. We thought they were waiting for our space but they took the Beach bag out of the boot.. Luckily there were no valuables in it. We chased after them but lost them. A Policeman rang our doorbell and I went to the Front Grill. He pointed to the car so I called my husband. The Local Police were doing a patrol and noticed he had left his window slightly open. He said 'Bandidos!'shows they are observant.

I would personally never chase a thief like that. Life is more important than material possessions, which can be replaced. He may have been armed with a weapon of some kind.
I appreciate however it can be instinctive to give chase.

Yes I agree. After retiring from the police it was difficult not to grab him

When we got mugged in Barcelona, my husband had one of them by the throat, throat in one hand camera in the other with me like a lump of jelly at the side. But once you have them what the hell do you do with them, beforehand I was one to say I would have kicked the poop out of them and left them for dead but when it happens, you don't. We are not built like that plus the fact you haven't a clue who else is with them and as said before what they may have on them like a knife. People say their need was probably great than ours but that still doesn't give people the right to steal off you. All we can do is try and protect what is ours and try out best and be on our guard and look out for one another.

When I saw him in my car he appeared to be trying to pop the steering column open and I assumed he had a screwdriver and decided to go for the take a photo option. I tried to get a front view and failed.

I agree being stabbed for an iPod just isn't worth it. The purpose of.mynpost is to remind people to.lock their cars even for the briefest of moments. Also this chap wasn't the dishelved desperado. He was tidy and his clothes clean.

The crime rate around here is far below that I dealt with in the UK. Which is the reason my family retired here.

And if that is the car photographed that had given him the lift, that is far from a cheap banger.
