Message from Pat Phillips:
we have received information about an incidence of bankcard cloning.

On Tuesday this week a friend and neighbour discovered that her Spanish bank card had been cloned and fraudulently used on three occasions in Port-au-Prince in Haiti resulting in the theft of just over €300. My friend last used the card to draw cash from an ATM at a bank on the High Street in Quesada towards the end of week ending 10 March. Fortunately my friends bank noticed what appeared to be fraudulent transactions and blocked the card otherwise the theft could have been a great deal higher.

The message to all members is to be vigilant at the ATM's and if anything appears to be out of the ordinary with the ATM notify the bank who owns cash machine and also for members to regularly check their bank accounts.

best wishes Pat

Always have a look at the card entry...anything unusual...badly fitting covers?

Put your other hand over as cover when you enter PIN.

Look around you ...anybody standing too close?

Take care and you should be OK!,

With regard to the question from Terry the Gardner "Do you know which A.T.M.it was in Quesada"

I asked Pat Phillips from Neighbourhood Watch if she knew & Pat said:

I do but I think we would get into bother If I said publicly. A supermarket we outed because of bag snatching in their carpark made trouble.... Im sorry about that but info goes round like wildfire sometimes
best wishes

The original post says "a bank on the high street in Quesada"

That narrows it down a bit..

Sharing information such as what bank it was must surely be an important part of the Neighborhood Watch service?
Even if it is done by pm.
If 20 people had been mugged in a particular street we'd all want to know which street or the information would be useless.
Just a thought!

I don't know Spanish Law as well as English Law, so can someone advise me on what basis the bank in question, providing the correct bank was named, be able to gag forum members sharing a matter of fact?

I think as a neighbourhood watch, you should name the bank so we are all aware,it isn't the banks fault& surely they would like their customers to be fore warned.
