We are permanent residents and enjoy totally free banking with Sabadell by 1 having a UK old age pension paid directly into the account, 2 topping up the pension deposit to at least 700€ per month, 3 keeping the account balance above zero throughout the month.
As sabadell´s insurance policies are a lot cheaper than they used to be, a cheap house insurance product, pretend you have a 1 bedroom flat, may well work out more economical than the quarterly bank charges, as Sabadell will offer totally free banking for a deposit of 700€ per month and an investment or insurance product.

‘Pretend you have a one bed flat, really’???
Good luck with your insurance claim when your 2/3 bed house gets burgled or damaged. Lying to insurers automatically voids your policy leaving you with zero cover. Cheaper to just pay the bank charges!

I meant it as an addition to your normal house insurance, never to be used, only as a method to get free banking at a lesser cost than the quarterly bank fees.

Good of you to clarify but can’t see there would be much in it even if you’re paying about €60 - €100 a year in charges. Last quotes I got from sabadell for our house and car insurance were off the wall. Still, if you’re ahead and getting one over on the bankers, good on you!

I know this is an old post, but how would you get away with 'pretending you have a 1 bedroom flat?'
What address would you give for the cover if you don't have an actual property to insure?
