Sabadell in Guardamar, have a Cuenca Expasion Premium Account.
Pay in €700 per calendar month and no bank charges.
Use “Wise(transfer wise)”, to do transfers for top exchange rates and very small charge.

Yes go for Wise. It allows you to hold money in different currencies, set up direct debits and make and receive payments. Only downside is you will have to pay to use an ATM, but how much cash does anyone use now?

To have that account you have to have an insurance or investment with Sabadell otherwise you will get charged

We have just opened one with wise you can do it online we have always had an account in Spain for 21 years but bank charges were getting more and more when they put them up to €50 we thought enough is enough
When you open a euro account with wise they will give you all the information on how to set up direct debits

I would be a little wary of Wise as they don't have the UK or EU (€100.000) financial compensation that you would get from a bank. OK if you're only changing/holding a few Euros but I would be concerned if holding a significant amount for a property.

That said, they give a very good rate exchange rate for relatively low charges and we use them to transfer money from our UK account to our N26 account.

Transferwise or Wise is guarranteed by Barclays so you still have the same protection

Your Wise account is an electronic money account. It’s different from a bank account because:

  • you won’t be able to get an overdraft or loan
  • you won’t earn interest on your account
  • your account details are unique and you can receive payments to them. They don’t represent real bank accounts, but simply "addresses" for your electronic money account
  • your money is protected and safeguarded , but not guaranteed by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) or another protection scheme that you may get with a bank account
The main benefit of using your Wise account over traditional accounts is that you won’t be charged international transaction fees or outrageous exchange rates.
You can send, receive and convert currencies all in one account. You’ll always get the real exchange rate and the lowest possible fees.
Plus, you can spend the money in your balances around the world with your Wise card .
