Billowing smole near Benijofar

Billowing smole near Benijofar

Postby mrspin » Tue Nov 26, 2019 1:51 pm

I have bought a property in Monte Azul Benijofar and have been dismayed to find that most mornings and indeed today at 12.30 my house has been completely engulfed with smoke from what appears to be farmland in the distance. Great big plumes of smoke which drift towards properties and I have had to close all the windows and doors until it subsides. If I had known about this then I would not have moved here as I have a chronic lung disease which is hereditary.

I can only presume that this is legal or can anybody tell me otherwise. I understand farmers have to do their work but to choke all other residents in the middle of the day is absolutely unacceptable. I moved here for health reasons and feel athat if this continues it will actually kill me.

Any advice would be so helpful.

Many thanks

Farmers require a licence for a fire so you can check if he has one by reporting to police

Not only Benijofar either. If one looks towards the mountains just beyond Elche, the valley there, from one end to the other, is covered in smoke nearly every morning all year round. Heaven help all the people who live in its path.

Most of the smoke you see towards the mountains is from home fires and is prevented from dispersing by the Mountains I use to live under them and it is not noticeable when living there .

I feel soryr for you but unfortunately it will never stop as these fires are necessary to clean all the prunings from the citrus crops it also make sure all diseased branches are destroyed and cannot spread to other trees.

I am sorry for you. It is so bad when you find out that things after you buy a property.

I remember when I saw a man walking on Guardamar, he was looking for a house to rent and move from the property he rented before. He told me that his previous house had a pub in front and it was so noisy. He was becoming crazy. I explaining: do you see that bar in the corner, it is the same like the one you have now in front of your house so look for in another area of the town.

If is realy a big health problem I would recomend you to move to another area where you will be free of polution (I know it sounds horrible after all the money, but I dont see another solution).

Regards

We are in the process of buying a house on Monte Azul, and are a bit concerned at what you are saying about the smoke. How often does this happen? The original post seems to suggest that it is most days, but then somebody else says about tree cuttings, which would only happen for a few days each year. I can't find any other posts, on any other forums that mention this problem. When we stayed in the local area for our property search last month we didn't see any huge plumes of smoke?

We also have a work colleague, who owns a property on Dona Pepa, and he has never mention this problem. The two towns are very close together.

its just the farmers burning the waste tree trimmings, our finca man near by has his fire nearly every sunday morning, but burns everything even his household waste in a very big stele drum, he wont have a licence I bet,but live n let live, he and his family was here before the houses were built ,he even tolerates people letting there dogs run and foul on his road side field,

That smoke is from all the domestic fires in the houses in the area
