I've read that. It'sa decent read but not recommended if you're an ardent Brexiteer.
Funnily enough, the last book I read, which was John Le Carre's latest, was even less sympathetic.

Just coming to the end of my current read (Blood Detective series by Dan Waddell) so will give it a look, already downloaded.

Maybe an idea to start a good reads topic?

I do no wish to engage in any discussion about Brexit, but with regard to ‘good reads’ I enjoy crime novels which also have a strong element of black humour.
My all time favourite author is Joseph Wambaugh, who spent 15 years in the Los Angeles Police Department. His best known novels became well known films at the time - ‘The Choirboys’ which was full of humour and ‘The Onion Field’ which was actually a true story and without any humour. But he also wrote many good books such as ‘The Black Marble’, ‘Finnegan’s Week’ and many others. He had a hiatus for several years following the Rodney King incident, but he readjusted his writing style and came back in the early 2000’s with four books in the ‘Hollywood’ series.
Wambaugh did assist with the very popular ‘Hillstreet Blues’ TV series so if you can relate to that then I think you might enjoy some of his books, many of which can be found on Kindle. Having given me so much reading pleasure I wrote to him and received a really nice reply and a couple of inscribed book marks. He lives in SAN Diego and is 82 and has not written any books in several years.
The other books I would like to recommend are the ‘Romney & Marsh’ series about detectives at Dover Police Station. There is a hint of comedy in the books and Oliver Tidy wrote about 6 or 7 books in the series. Most people who read them asked him to write more, but he has written books in a different style which I do not enjoy. If you want to read some detective stories where the people are easy to relate to, then I recommend you download them on Kindle and try to read them in the right order as the stories follow on in some cases.
If anyone had any recommendations of detective stories which have some black humour I would be grateful!

If you've not read them, Mark Billingham's "Tom Thorne" series are really good reading. The only author I've read everything by, other then Gerald Seymour.
