Buying a Spanish reg vehicle in Uk and driving to Spain

Ok here’s a conundrum. We are currently awaiting our visit to the consulate in Manchester for our NLV applications, if all good, we can then come to Spain , both had our COVID vaccinations. Options are, driving down one way in a long wheel based van with our stuff, not much furniture, we have a small dog and has to be channel tunnel and through France as no pet friendly cabins till November or get a company to take our stuff and we buy a Spanish registered vehicle in Uk and drive down, the reason for purchasing in Uk is because compared to Spanish market, it would be more economical, plus true service history. Just seen on a forum that we may not be able to either drive a Spanish vehicle in Uk on Uk licence and/ or cannot drive a Spanish vehicle in Spain on Uk licence, because not yet resident.......confused.com? Now I’m not sure which is the best option and am considering the first option, as I don’t want to spend Xk on a car that I can’t drive in Spain (potentially). Can anyone shed light on this, prefer facts rather than rhetoric if possible, thanks in anticipation. The clock is ticking, literally.

This might be of little help due to brexit etc but 9 years ago i bought a LHD vehicle in London & insured it for the UK & got my green card & drove it over without any problems but once here within 3 months i had to get it ITV,d & pay the taxes which were not much & of course get my Spanish driving licence. hope its of some help.

I may not be any help but I know a man who may, speak to James Roger Director of Pentagon vehucles lots (LHD CARBUYER.COM) I sold my Spanish car to him late last year, he completed all the paperwork. The chances are that he also knows the system in reverse. Hope this help

We bought a Spanish car in the UK from some friends

Only found out later that Whilst Non UK residents are permitted to drive a foreign registered Car for 6 months, UK residents are only allowed 2 weeks from entry into the UK in which to register the car with the DVLA, the penalty for not doing so being having the car impounded and scrapped

You can have the Car shipped to Spain by car transporter

If the ANPR system detects a foreign Car older than 6 months, the system can flag it up for the Police to intercept, mainly around the ferry ports

Had a very stressful journey to Spain trying to avoid ANPR Cameras

Not sure whether this is relevant as we did the car journey in October 2019 with our elderly cat and just what we could fit in the car. We bought a Spanish registered used Citroen Picasso from a company in Basingstoke called LHD Place a few days before making the journey. We did the drive from East Sussex and crossed the channel in our car on the train. Our passports were checked on entering France but nobody looked at our cat's passport. We went through customs with no checks at all. We stayed in pet friendly hotels in Northern and Southern France and the whole journey driving to our place here in Almoradi, took 3 days. The car is great. It's passed the ITV twice and although it's got sun damage it's was a wonderful purchase. Good Luck.

Are you Spanish or uk residents?

Just following up on this as I often muse on the same idea but as a UK resident I cannot work out how I would transport the vehicle in the UK to the port, unless I arranged for a truck to transport it from the dealership to meet it at the port/chunnel itself?
