Car disability badge for parking

Postby Rita Mooney » Fri Sep 01, 2023 6:19 pm

My husband has become disabled due to a stroke and brain hemorrhage. Could anyone advise me how I apply for a disabled parking badge for my car please? Thank you.

You need to go to the town hall and request the forms and they will explain the procedures to you and where to apply. You will need a certificate from your GP showing at least 33% disability and that using public transport would not be feasible (easy in Quesada as there isn't any).

The town hall will also give you the contact details of your local social worker who submits the forms on your behalf. You will then be assessed by a state doctor and, if they agree you meet the levels of disability, will issue you the blue badge.

But the first point of call will be the town hall in Rojales.

It can take up to 2 years to obtain one and it's really difficult, you're very lucky if you get granted one. I went to the small police office at La Siesta, you'd probably have to go to your town hall. The police officer was wonderful printed off all the paperwork, told me to take the forms to the doctor to fill in, once the doctors filled it in and stamped it you then take it back to the police office who then sends it to Alicante for processing. You then get called for a medical in Alicante and they let you know one way or the other. Anyway as dad had a doctor's appt last week I took the forms and the Dr said said no I don't do that you need to go to the social services office. I spoke to the head receptionist who I know and she said idy be wasting my time and effort. She applied for her husband who could not walk 6 feet and he was declined. So im not going to bother ican do without all the aggro.

The procedure was posted recently on the Guardia website 'N332'. It varies very slightly depending where you live but as stated here the best place to start is the Town Hall. You will in any case need an up to date padron. Some people have found it difficult whilst others have been successful. You have nothing to loose by trying except perhaps some time and with all things Spanish a little pacience. Good luck.
