Going to be buying a car privately what's the best and cheapest way of transferring it to myself.

Go on the n332 website and download the forms then take them to Traffico at Alicante after making an appointment

I got mine done by Matt at one-way services in Quesada he charges 50 euros plus pf course the tax and 56 euros fee that Traffico charge all done in 3 days and you do not need to go the Alicante they do
The office is opposite the Police Station in Quesada Avenida Las Nations

Dopey question perhaps, but at what point can you engage Matt in the process? Do you do so after having handed over the cash and driving away with the car? What about insurance at that point? An idea of the chronology of events would be useful.

Agree to buy the car
get insurance
pay for car
get documents
go see Matt

If transferring your existing insurance it is normal for the insurance company to insure you old car and your new car for 24 hours,after that then your old car is no longer insured

Great - many thanks. So just need to be 100% on what I need from the seller before parting with the cash.

Make sure the car your buying has got no parking fines
Or other fines , once you buy these then become your problem
.Not sure how you check this out .
