Cleaning/washing foam padded seats

Postby Dot » Sun Feb 24, 2019 1:36 pm

Hi, has anyone washed foam seat covers that can't be removed so foam has to stay put?

We've used a Turtle Wax foam upholstery cleaner which we got from Carrefour. Comes in a green tin with a green plastic brush attached.

Wasn't perfect but made a big difference.

Thank you Marcliff, I have used a scrubbing brush and washing liquid and made a little difference, also took them to dry cleaners but they said it could distort the foam inside.

If you can take them of then roll them individually (tightly) bind each one with something like an old bandage, strips of cloth perhaps, them bind them together or if you have one of those string bags for washing socks put them in there (bound individually) and then wash but don't spin, you may have to put them through twice depending on how dirty they are /Fiona

I did see a lady washing hers in the laundrette and when they came out they looked OK, maybe bite the bullet and try one doing it that way?

I have washed mine many times with the covers on in the washing machine, came out brilliant. I tend to do it when the weather is really hot, hang them on the line to dry and they are dry in no time, inside and out.
