I'm going back soon on Britainy Ferries with a dog. You can have a dog friendly cabin, but very hard to get. Otherwise, the dog has to be in a cage. You can walk the dog on a designated deck, but when out of the cage or room it has to be muzzled, whatever breed or size of the dog. So it will be very traumatic for a small nervous dog.

We also have a small nervous dog who does not like travelling either by boat or car. We will only travel by Brittany Ferries in a dog friendly cabin and we also give her some mild sedatives we only use the muzzle from the car deck to the cabin.

Unless you are lucky to get a dog friendly cabin I suggest travelling through France and using the Channel Tunnel, where your dog stays with you. There are plenty of dog friendly hotels en route.

There’s only one way if you have a dog in my opinion that’s the Channel Tunnel.
All very well organised, walk the dog before you go through to chill and go to the toilet, then through in 40 minutes and the dog is with you in the car.
