I took one with Avalon - they cover arrangements if you die anywhere in Spain or mainland UK and it can be as basic or as elaborate as you choose. The staff were really nice that I dealt with and everyone speaks English, important during stressful times.

As long as you have made the minimum amount of payments. Otherwise you end up with a £3000 bill and a lot of stress. Worst company i have ever dealt with.

I am paying in instalments and fully understand that my funeral isn’t yet paid for. They make it very clear in their paperwork and their illustrations. Of course any shortfall has to be paid if death occurs before payment plan is complete. It isn’t an insurance policy.

We’ve been in Spain since 2004 and took out a funeral plan with Avalon that same year. We paid for it over 12 months, and it was probably a lot less than what you would pay today, but at least it’s done. Obviously we haven’t used it yet, but at least we know we’re covered and won’t have to pay any more when the inevitable happens. They also let us know if or when any rules and regulations change, so long as we tell them if we moved, which we did two years ago. We are very happy with our plans.
