Hi, has anyone got experience of keyhole surgery to remove gallbladder at Torrevieja hospital, would be interested in your comments as I am expecting to have this procedure done soon.

My wife did a few years ago. Got there for just after 7 am (you have to use the entrance by the cafe) and up to UCSI. She went in about 9'30 and I had a number to check on the screen to follow the procedure.
Doctor came out about 1pm to tell me it had all gone well and was recovering. Would take about 2 hours before she could leave.

She had been in considerable pain before and the operation has alleviated that and she was very happy.
Only problem I found was that she had to walk, quite a distance, to hospital entrance with no wheelchair available so we took it very slowly. I left her by the entrance as the car was quite some way off and came round to pick her up.

Excellent after service from the nurses at the health centre who cleaned and changed the dressings every other day, gave her some sprays and more dressings to use at home. They really took care of her and I was given a prescription for some injections to collect from the pharmacy and they showed me how to administer them.

No problems encountered afterwards except that some foods upset her so we have to be careful on what she eats although the things that bother her are very few.

When you go to get her out, borrow a wheel chair, there are usually some in the foyer. If not go to A and E, take it back when finished.

Was this in Torrevieja?
I have been told it’s keyhole surgery and will go in in the morning and go home in the afternoon.

Hi, I had mine out in Torreveija hospital on 11th December 23. Keyhole surgery. In at 8am. Out at 5pm. Walked to the car in the car park. No problems. Great service. Obviously al bit of discomfort after the operation as expected but I was out for a short walk the next day and back to normal fairly quickly. If you want anymore information pm me.

That’s really helpful thank you, a bit nervous although have been in to have cataracts removed, not a great experience for the 2nd one, but nurses were lovely.
