Just got a bill, second bill since we moved to Spain.

Iberdrola. Used 1017kWh and have a 20% discount on that so its around 17c p kWh.

Now gas charges are 1017 kWh at 17.5842c comes to an additional €178.83. Total bill is €399 for 33 days.

Im going to take a hammer to the electric meter.

My original post on the subject of Iberdrola electric prices was concerning the massive increase due to the gas charge. I got some great replies so thank you for that. Now my question is why, since my October bill, have the gas charges reduced to, in the case of my November and January bills, just a few cents. The gas charge is now a fraction of the bill whereas pre October 22 it was 30% of the total. Now I'm certainly not complaining about this massive reduction. Just wandering if anyone can explain what's happening. Thanks again.

There was a BOE issued about that time which explained how the power companies could change the way they could pay the gas companies for providing the energy required and, in one of the many other threads on it, I think I quoted a newspaper article on how gas companies could spilt the charges in a way they couldn't before. This brought the domestic charges down.

All to do with dual fuel charging.

Actually glad you brought this up to warn others who are on contracts. Those whose contracts were before April 26th 2022 did not pay the "gas price cap RDL 10/2022". However, if your contract has been longer than 1 year or after January 1st then this will now be added to your bill.

Those of us on contracts have got away with it up until now but they are now sending out emails to say it will apply from this month and they are saying my bill for the month will be 53 euro but this will increase to 76 euro with the gas cap quota.

That's a strange increase.

I have had the gas charge throughout. It was crazy at first, over 17c per kWh in the summer just for the gas charge itself.

Ever since, its tumbled. My latest gas charges in total are only a couple of euro, it would have been near €100 in the summer time for this amount of consumption.

Ive attached my latest bill from Iberdrola here so others can compare.

I think I'll wait for the bill which they say is due on 25th Feb and see what the charge is. Just the email stating 76 euro but my forecast is 53.
