Can anyone tell me if it better to go with the Spanish health system or stay private..


Our years private medical insurance is up for renewal in dec ...

Depends on how much you are paying for private insurance, I suppose.
If you mean going to the Convenio Especial, that will cost 65 euro each per month. It covers everything, even ongoing problems, but doesn't cover the cost of prescriptions. You'd have to pay the current rate for them depending on age.

If you're paying less than 780 euro a year each for private then stick with that. If you have pre-existing conditions maybe better to change.

Does the convenio especial cover you outside of the Valencia area??
For instance if you went to Costa del sol and needed to see a doctor, would you be able to??
