New York as they thought that the locals who like to promenade down all the "in places" in Manhatten would not like broomsticks flying above them, and were likely to ask the US airforce to intervene! Central Park was considered to be the ideal venue because .....

the far corner of the park where we set up our tents! The only thing was that the passers by thought that we were involved in a protest, instead of starting our quest for the Quiddich Cup! Very rapidly the word got around that we were there, and more people came and set up a tents, and in the end that corner became a tent city. So by that time, not only did we not get our kip we also failed to keep low profile and unobtrusive! There was nothing for it, but to ...................

make the most of the situation. It was hot so we went to the local dollar shop and bought lots of packs of soft drinks at 6 for a dollar to to sell on to the thirsty tent people at a dollar each. We made a small fortune in a few weeks and, with no accordionist in sight, there was no competition, but then....

I realised I wasn't dreaming at all, it was true...we had to get home to the UK just in case the baggies and Fulham continued playing so well and we ended up missing this phenomenon, we packed our things, sold the last of the drinks, and....
