Large "grasshopper"

Appears to be a large grasshopper about 60mm long(about 2 and half inches)This fella has been in our garden for sometime, always by himself so it's not a swarm and appears to do no harm. Perhaps he eats the aphids for me.

2 weeks ago this beast attached itself to the front of my hoody as I was picking an orange from the tree in the garden. I walked into the house and then it caught my eye as I glanced down and I freaked. Swiped it off and it hung about for ages. I got it outside in a box, but then it was spotted many times on my car wheel, on the outside furniture, it didn't seem to want to leave. I was quite surprised when I saw it take full flight away up into a tree, I presumed they didn't fly properly, but it did, and into a strong headwind too.

Looks more like a young/ small locust..

I you talk to them they appear to understand I have loads in the hedges
