Lion on the Loose

Lion on the Loose

Postby Sandra » Mon Aug 27, 2012 8:58 am

Don't know if anyone caught the news last/night or this morning about this?

The lion was first spotted a few hundred yards from my house last night, and is now reported to be a few miles away in St Osyth. One of the locals snapped it on their telephone, and Colchester Zoo verified the picture. There have been a few sightings of it, but despite armed police and helicopters combing the area it hasn't been found.

St Osyth is on the coast, but there is a lot of "scrub land" near the beach. St Osyth is famed for its priory and also for its nudist beach (which is a long walk along the main beach - and has a lot of thistles!!). ;)
This morning a policewoman appeared on the television and said "If a member of the public sees this lion - do not approach it". There was I thinking that they were cuddly and friendly!!!

Stuff of nightmares Sandra! Keep your doors closed. We heard this morning that it's been missing for about 3 weeks but the circus who 'lost' it did not report it....can you believe that???

! I hope they catch it quickly.

I used to go to Point Clear at St Osyths many years ago. There were often Cat Fights but no Lions.

- Me, too!!

I hadn't heard that one, Jan. The police seemed to be concentrating on a fact that it came from a private zoo. The last circus only had tigers - unless they were keeping the lions in reserve as food for them!! Oh dear, I'm starting to sound very gruesome!!

The artwork is now resplendent on many Essex FB sites. We will use it as a photofit.
