Lost engagement ring

Should be covered by household insurance

Our insurer is still checking but said she didn't think it would be covered as lost outside the property

Is it the agent or the insurance company that are checking
Get your policy out and check the terms of lost property

The fact that she discovered the loss after been at the market, does not mean it was lost there, lost means no one knows where it is so cannot say whether inside or out.

A friend of mine lost their ring, thought it was lost in Mercadona or in the street, turned out it had come off in their shopping bag.

Sue was in a wheel chair with the ring on her finger, she wore gloves as her hands were cold, she remived her gloves at the market to pay for goods and when we sat for a coffee. She noticed the ring gone when we returned back into the car. I'm no detective but logic tells me she lost it at the market

So sorry to hear this.
Unfortunately your insurer may be correct about cover. We had our car stolen, in it were my husband’s golf clubs, neither the car insurance or the house insurance would pay as they were not on our property. Apparently the only time they will cover you is if something is taken by force. We are now looking into an insurance that will cover sports equipment and personal possessions when outside the home.
Fingers crossed someone finds the ring and returns it.
