Merlin place burned down.
Merlin place burned down.
by Scipio » Tue Oct 23, 2018 7:55 am
Virtually, anybody who has been to Playa Flamenca Saturday Market or Playa Flamenca Carrefour will know Merlin the rough sleeper who has politely played his guitar for coins around the area for many years.
As he is now deep into his sixties he has sought shelter from the elements in an abandoned electricity box on the sea-side of the N332 at Playa Flamenca.
A few of us have helped him to make this "house" as comfortable as possible with furniture etc.
He has been robbed countless times over the years having guitars stolen and vandalised amongst other items.
Yesterday while Merlin was looking after a friends dog someone decided to burn his and another street sleepers boxes down.
Some of you may have seen the police fire services and even the water plane fighting the fires.
Their homes have been ruined by this despicable act of arson.
I don't know if anybody has any ideas of how to assist . I have tried to help Merlin and his various street friends with food drinks clothing and furniture over the last ten years or so, but I don't have a lot of leeway myself at the moment.
Many of us have been close to being in the same situation as these people who have nothing and nobody.
Winter will be upon us soon and Merlin and Co will need shelter.
Thanks for reading.

Hi. There is a charity in Torrevieja called Reach out. You could try them. They are usually very helpful. Maybe that’s too far away but you could try. Hope this is useful.
Regards Ruth.

How quick people are to condem I remember my father telling me over 60 years ago you never know when things will turn. I hope the criminals get caught but have little hope. Despicable.

I am so sorry to read this so sad story .I am new to this site and just came on off topic by chance .
Would you place on general discussion ,as more people may read and be able to help .
For now how can I help,? I am only here for another few days .
How is this poor man coping ,where is he staying ,and what dose he need now ,
One idea I had was a go fund me page .
Tell us what he needs now , people who want to help may have items and some cash to help out ,
May even buy him a guitar ,,
You are very kind and hope you enjoy good health and happiness ,
My best wishes
Cami

If Jan would switch to general discussion it would be great.
Needed immediately.
Strong boots/shoes for winter size 6/7.
Warm clothing size medium.
A gas heater with a bottle
Quilts or sleeping bags
Cans of food.
His guitar has been damaged and if someone has a bike that would be brilliant
First aid equipment.Anti biotics.
Money is of course always useful.
I don't mind picking up bits and pieces. But my car isn't that big.

Please try "Reachout" in torevieja, they will help you with clothes, shoes, bedding and perhaps some food. He can also go there for dinner and breakfast.
