NIE number

Does anyone know what I need to do to obtain an NIE number for my daughter who lives in England. Many thanks

It may be different if you are already resident of Spain, but I have contacted a Spanish lawyer and will give them the POA to do it for me (because I intend to buy a property).

The Spanish Embassy in the UK would not allow me to apply for an NIE until I had bought a property or become resident...

That sounds back to front, don’t think you can buy a house or become resident without an NIE.

I think that should be intend to buy property or apply for residency rather than already have done them. You have to put a reason on the application form and buying property or taking out residency are valid reasons.

Yeah, I should have said "in the process of" or something. Essentially, the Spanish Embassy UK would not allow me to apply without evidence of intent was what the email response from them said.
