I ditched Caixa in favour of the Wise acc for which i got a debit card in the post. Ive transfered all my DD to it..Iberdrola was the easiest. Hidraqua the most difficult but got it done in person in the end.
I was recommended on here to try BBVA in Rojales for my withdrawals. I did that but was charged 6 euros for the pleasure. Im hoping going forward someone on here can recommend another place to try without incurring this charge. All in all im happy i did it..
Regards
I guess that is because your card is registered to your UK address. Charges for UK cards have gone up since Brexit. Ask Wise to send a replacement card to your Spanish address and your withdrawals at BBVA will be free of ATM charges. I did advise you about that, and warn of the €6 charge, on the thread you started last month.

We also have non resident Hola account at Caixa in 2 names also with debit card. Our fees for 2021 is 96 euros. All direct debits come out of there. Never had a problem with them in the 10 years we've had the account.

I transferred to Cajamar - no charges as long as you only have their cash card (free withdrawals from their ATMs). I use Starling for card purchases - top up from UK bank instantly and top rate of exchange.

Thank you for all your help . I will look into Wise.
Another friend of mine has told me he has no Spanish account at all . He pays his utility bills and SUMA directly via on line accounts and pays using a Halifax credit card. No charges whatsoever. Also uses same card to withdraw cash in Spain .

I think that some people forget the fact that all banks are a business and that's how they make there money by charges.

Very true ….. a fair service at at a fair price is good ….. and like all businesses they may respond to a good kicking from their customers if the charges are judged unreasonable or the service they provide is judged as being poor

But 225 euros a year in charges is excessive and a rip off. Banks make plenty of profit investing our money at preferential rates.

Been banking with Caxia now for a few years and never paid any charges it depends what account and the amount of money you have with them.
