Can you drive in UK over the age of 70 with your Spanish driving license?

As what? A visitor? Taking up residency in UK?

You can drive on a EU licence in UK as a visitor providing it is in date.

If taking up residency, you have to exchange it for a UK licence when you reach 70 or when it expires.

Hiring a car in UK can be problematic over that age, though.

And, as I've mentioned before, please put the topic open to everyone. Someone may have had experience of this so would be able to give the up to date rulings.

That's worth knowing. I assume you renew your licence over here.

I asked because read today on DVLA and police website that it was illegal to drive on EU license now in UK over 70. It also says they could seize your car if they pulled you over. We have residency in Spain so now aren't sure about anything.

It is possible to drive in the UK with an EU licence - Holders of a licence issued in EU/EEA nations can drive in the United Kingdom until the document expires.
You won’t need to retake your test or exchange your European driving licence documents.

You can check your specific circumstances on the UK Govt website here:

https://www.gov.uk/driving-nongb-licence

Based on what you've said I think you'll be able to use it until it expires, but check for yourself to be sure.

Once you get to 70 in UK, you have to renew your driving licence. If you are a UK resident you can't do that with a Spanish one. If you are a visitor and it's in date there should be no problem.

And, jpeg, I'm a bit younger than you but 3 hire companies I tried wouldn't let me hire a car over 70. I now use Enterprise and have no problem with hiring one from them. They don't even ask your age but others say up to 70 only.

And, at my test, they only renewed my licence for 4 years as they say my hearing is getting weak. However, when the licence arrived, it was for the full 5 years. That was at La Fiesta clinic.
