Sorry, but a red flag means don't go in the water regardless of others being in there. It's your own fault.

It must have been terrifying and hope you get over it, and hopefully the lifeguard learn to watch for signs of distress. Only thing why if Red flags are showing do people go in the sea?

Only you to blame, Red Flag means do not go in the water If the Guardia had been there you may have been fined

i would have thought the life guards would tell people to come out, not walk up and down watching the bathers.

When I used to sail, waving with one arm was considered a greeting. I was taught never to wave with two arms as that was a sign of distress. A two arm wave would probably alerted the beach patrol to your distress

Nevertheless, you should not have been in that situation if you had adhered to the red flag warning and not gone into the sea.

The under currents around here are very dangerous. Two people have drowned at La Mata beach in the last week and were swimming despite the red flags flying.

Hello I must say thank you for telling us of your experience, we all do silly things and think we will be ok. Your experience must have been terrifying and it has now alerted everyone to abide by the rules. It’s not easy telling people of, shall we say, your lack of judgement or stupidity, this takes courage. So glad you and your rescuers were safe and I hope the gentleman contacts you.
